[842] Then the king sat down to one side
upon a soft cushion, spread with a soft ornamented coverlet,
with a soft spread laid over it.
Having seated himself, the king exchanged friendly greetings
and courteous, memorable talk, and then [inquired]:
"I hope, venerable sir, that you are keeping well —
that there is no disturbance of the [bodily] winds?
I hope that your livelihood is without hardship,
and that you obtain almsfood sufficient to sustain you?
And I hope that you are but little afflicted,
and that your eyesight does not fail?"
