Greeted in return, the king then straightaway asked
about the good (attha), righteousness (dhamma), and the right way (ñāya) —
that lover of righteousness, bull among charioteers:
"How should a mortal practice righteousness toward mother and father, Kassapa?
How should he behave toward a teacher? How should he behave toward children and wife?
How should he behave toward elders? How toward ascetics and brahmins?
And how toward the army? How should he conduct himself in the country?
Having practiced righteousness in what way do people, when they have passed on, go to a good destination (sugati)?
And how is it that some, not standing in righteousness, fall down into hell (niraya)?"
