[101] **"For the cleansed one (dhona) there is no view formulated anywhere in the world concerning existence upon existence (bhavābhava)."**
**"Dhona"**: wisdom (paññā) is called *dhonā* — that wisdom which is understanding, investigation, deep investigation, investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya), discernment, discrimination, differentiation, learnedness, proficiency, subtlety, clear analysis (vebhabyā), reflection, examination, breadth (bhūrī), sagacity (medhā), guidance, insight (vipassanā), clear comprehension (sampajañña), the goad (patoda); wisdom, the faculty of wisdom, the power of wisdom, the sword of wisdom, the palace of wisdom, the light of wisdom, the luster of wisdom, the radiance of wisdom, the gem of wisdom; non-delusion, investigation of dhammas, right view (sammādiṭṭhi).
For what reason is wisdom called *dhonā*? By that wisdom bodily misconduct is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean; verbal misconduct is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean; mental misconduct is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean; lust is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean; hatred, delusion, anger, hostility, denigration, domineering, envy, avarice, deceit, hypocrisy, obstinacy, presumption (sārambha), conceit, arrogance, vanity, heedlessness, all defilements, all misconduct, all disturbances (daratha), all fevers (pariḷāha), all torments (santāpa), all unwholesome volitional formations (abhisaṅkhāra) are shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean. For that reason wisdom is called *dhonā*.
Or else: by right view, wrong view is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean. By right intention, wrong intention is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean. By right speech, wrong speech is shaken off … By right action, wrong action is shaken off … By right livelihood, wrong livelihood is shaken off … By right effort, wrong effort is shaken off … By right mindfulness (sammāsati), wrong mindfulness is shaken off … By right concentration (sammāsamādhi), wrong concentration (samādhi) is shaken off … By right knowledge, wrong knowledge is shaken off … By right liberation, wrong liberation is shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean.
Or else: by the noble eightfold path (magga), all defilements, all misconduct, all disturbances, all fevers, all torments, all unwholesome volitional formations are shaken off, washed away, washed clean, and rinsed clean. The Arahant is endowed with, fully endowed with, has come to, has fully come to, has attained, has fully attained, and is possessed of these qualities of cleansing; therefore the Arahant is *dhona* (cleansed). He has shaken off lust, shaken off evil, shaken off defilements, shaken off fever; thus he is *dhona*.
**"Anywhere"**: anywhere, in anything, in any place — internally, externally, or both internally and externally.
**"In the world"**: in the world of the plane of misery … in the world of the sense bases (āyatana).
**"Formulated"**: there are two kinds of formulation — formulation through craving (taṇhā) and formulation through views … this is formulation through craving … this is formulation through views.
**"Concerning existence upon existence"**: in existence upon existence — in kamma-existence, in re-existence; in kamma-existence that is sense-sphere existence, in re-existence that is sense-sphere existence; in kamma-existence that is form existence, in re-existence that is form existence; in kamma-existence that is formless existence, in re-existence that is formless existence; in existence again and again, in destination again and again, in rebirth again and again, in rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi) again and again, in the production of individual existence again and again.
**"For the cleansed one there is no view formulated anywhere in the world concerning existence upon existence"**: for the cleansed one, anywhere in the world and concerning existences, there is no view that has been formed, formulated, constructed, or established — such views do not exist, are not found, are not apprehended; they have been abandoned, cut off, stilled, tranquilized, rendered incapable of arising again, burned by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). Thus: "For the cleansed one there is no view formulated anywhere in the world concerning existence upon existence."
