[107] *(Editorial paragraph number of the Siam Raṭṭha edition.)*
**"Self or non-self — for him there is none" (attaṃ nirattaṃ na hi tassa atthi):** "Self" (attā) — that is, the eternalist view (sassatadiṭṭhi) — there is none; "non-self" (nirattā) — that is, the annihilationist view (ucchedadiṭṭhi) — there is none. "Self" — that is, anything grasped — there is none; "non-self" — that is, anything to be relinquished — there is none. For whomever there is something grasped, for him there is something to be relinquished; for whomever there is something to be relinquished, for him there is something grasped. The Arahant has transcended grasping and relinquishing, has passed beyond growth and decline. He has lived the holy life to its completion, has fulfilled the course of conduct … there is for him no renewed existence. Therefore: "Self or non-self — for him there is none."
