[160] **"One should not form even a view (diṭṭhi) in the world by knowledge (ñāṇa), nor yet by virtue and observances (sīlavata)"**: one should not form a view — should not generate it, should not engender it, should not produce it, should not bring it forth — by the knowledge of the eight attainments (samāpatti), or by the knowledge of the five superknowledges (abhiññā), or by wrong knowledge (micchāñāṇa), or by virtue (sīla), or by observances (vata), or by virtue and observances. **"In the world"**: in the world of the states of woe (apāya), the world of humans, the world of gods, the world of the aggregates (khandha), the world of the elements (dhātu), the world of the sense bases (āyatana). Hence, "one should not form even a view in the world by knowledge, nor yet by virtue and observances."
