[167] **Nor does he fall back on any view (diṭṭhi) whatsoever:** the sixty-two speculative views (diṭṭhigata) have been abandoned by him, cut off, calmed, tranquilized, rendered incapable of arising again, burnt by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). He does not fall back on, does not return to, any speculative view whatsoever; therefore it is said, "nor does he fall back on any view whatsoever." Therefore the Blessed One said:
Having abandoned what was grasped [as self], not clinging,
he does not make a dependence even upon knowledge;
indeed, when people are divided, he does not run with a faction;
nor does he fall back on any view whatsoever.
