[200] **"One does not see the departed, who has died":** those who are dead, who have died, are called "the departed" (petā). One does not see, does not behold, does not encounter, does not find, does not obtain — therefore, "one does not see the departed, who has died." Hence the Blessed One said: > Just as a man, upon awakening, > does not see what he met with in a dream, > even so one does not see the beloved person > who has departed, who has died.
