[279] **One engaged in speech in the midst of an assembly** (yutto kathāyaṃ parisāya majjhe): one engaged, applied, intent, thoroughly engaged, and fully engaged in his own speech in order to speak in the midst of a company of noblemen (khattiya-parisā), or a company of brahmins (brāhmaṇa-parisā), or a company of householders (gahapati-parisā), or a company of recluses (samaṇa-parisā) — therefore, "one engaged in speech in the midst of an assembly."
