[3] **If that succeeds for him**: **For him** — for that khattiya (khattiya), or brahmin (brāhmaṇa), or vessa, or sudda, or householder, or one gone forth (pabbajita), or deva, or human being. **That**: what are called objective sensualities (vatthukāma) — agreeable forms, agreeable sounds, agreeable smells (gandha), agreeable tastes, agreeable tangibles (phoṭṭhabba). **Succeeds**: it prospers, it succeeds; he gains, obtains, attains, finds it — thus, "if that succeeds for him."
