[4] **Certainly he becomes one whose mind is filled with rapture (addhā pītimano hoti):** "Certainly (addhā)" — this is a statement made categorically, a statement free from doubt, a statement free from perplexity, a statement that is not twofold, a statement that is not ambiguous, a statement of necessity, a statement that is unerring; this word "certainly" is a statement of determination. **Rapture (pīti):** whatever rapture is connected with the five cords of sensual pleasure (kāmaguṇa) — rapture, gladness, rejoicing, delighting, mirth, merriment, joyfulness, contentment, elation, satisfaction of mind, the state of the mind (citta) being filled to overflowing. **Mind (mano):** that which is mind (citta), intellect (mano), the mental, the heart, the lucid, mind, the mind base (manāyatana), the mind faculty (manindriya), consciousness, the consciousness aggregate, the corresponding mind-consciousness element (manoviññāṇadhātu) — this is called mind. This mind is accompanied by this rapture, arisen together with it, conjoined with it, associated with it, having one arising, one cessation, one physical basis, one object. **He becomes one whose mind is filled with rapture:** he becomes one contented in mind, gladdened in mind, delighted in mind, pleased in mind, elated in mind, uplifted in mind — therefore, "certainly he becomes one whose mind is filled with rapture."
