[341] **"If, then, it seems, not by view, not by learning, not by knowledge" (no ce kira diṭṭhiyā na sutiyā na ñāṇena):** you do not say, do not tell, do not speak, do not explain, do not express purity (suddhi), complete purity (visuddhi), thorough purity (parisuddhi), release (mutti), deliverance (vimutti), complete release (parimutti) even by view (diṭṭhi). You do not say, do not tell, do not speak, do not explain, do not express purity, complete purity, thorough purity, release, deliverance, complete release even by learning (suta). You do not say, do not tell, do not speak, do not explain, do not express purity, complete purity, thorough purity, release, deliverance, complete release even by the seen and the heard (diṭṭhasuta). You do not say, do not tell, do not speak, do not explain, do not express purity, complete purity, thorough purity, release, deliverance, complete release even by knowledge (ñāṇa). Hence, "if, then, it seems, not by view, not by learning, not by knowledge." **"Thus [said] Māgandiya" (iti Māgandiyo):** The word "iti" is a connective of words … this word "iti" marks the sequence of words. "Māgandiya" is the name of that brahmin. Hence, "thus [said] Māgandiya."
