[353] **"Unwavering amid the three discriminations (vidhā), [the notion] 'I am equal' or 'I am superior' does not occur to him"**: one in whom these three discriminations have been abandoned, cut off, stilled, allayed, rendered incapable of arising again, burned up by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa) — he does not waver, does not vacillate amid the three discriminations. For a person who is unwavering there is no [notion] "I am equal," or "I am superior," or "I am inferior." **"Does not occur to him"**: [that is,] "it does not occur to me." Hence, "unwavering amid the three discriminations, [the notion] 'I am equal' or 'I am superior' does not occur to him." Therefore the Blessed One said:
"Equal, superior, or else inferior" —
whoever conceives thus would dispute on that account;
unwavering amid the three discriminations,
[the notion] "I am equal" or "I am superior" does not occur to him.
