[377] **"Asked ... the supreme man" (pucchito uttamaṃ naraṃ):** *Asked* (pucchito) means: questioned, asked, requested, invited, prompted with confidence (to speak). *The supreme man* (uttamaṃ naraṃ) means: the man who is foremost, best, distinguished, preeminent, highest, most excellent — hence, "asked ... the supreme man." Therefore that created one (nimmita) said: "One of what vision, of what virtuous conduct, is called 'one at peace (upasanta)'? Tell me that, Gotama, being asked about the supreme man."
