[431] **"That is not put before him"** (taṃ tassa apurekkhaṃ): "him" means the Arahant whose taints (āsava) are destroyed.
**"Putting before"** (purekkhāra): there are two kinds of putting before — the putting before of craving (taṇhā) and the putting before of view (diṭṭhi) … this is the putting before of craving … this is the putting before of view. He has abandoned the putting before of craving; he has relinquished the putting before of view. Because the putting before of craving has been abandoned, and because the putting before of view has been relinquished, he does not go about having placed craving or view in front: he has not craving as his banner, not craving as his standard, not craving as his dominant influence; he has not view as his banner, not view as his standard, not view as his dominant influence; he does not go about surrounded by craving or [2] by view. Therefore: "that is not put before him."
