[432] **Therefore he does not tremble amid statements** — "Therefore" (tasmā): therefore, for that reason, from that cause, owing to that condition, on that account, he does not tremble amid statements, amid accusations — at blame, at censure, at dispraise, at the carrying about of his discredit — he does not tremble, does not stir, does not waver, does not shake, does not quake, does not quiver. Thus, "therefore he does not tremble amid statements." Hence the Blessed One said:
That with which worldlings (puthujjana) might reproach him,
and likewise ascetics and brahmins —
that is not put before him [not anticipated by him];
therefore he does not tremble amid statements.
