[436] **Construing (kappa)**, in the phrase "not subject to construing, he does not go to construing": there are two kinds of construing — construing through craving (taṇhā) and construing through view (diṭṭhi) … this is construing through craving … this is construing through view. For him construing through craving has been abandoned, construing through view has been relinquished; because construing through craving has been abandoned and construing through view has been relinquished, he does not go to, does not approach, does not draw near to, does not grasp, does not hold onto, does not adhere to either construing through craving or construing through view — thus, "he does not go to construing."
**Construing**, in the phrase "not subject to construing"¹: there are two kinds of construing — construing through craving and construing through view … this is construing through craving … this is construing through view. For him construing through craving has been abandoned, construing through view has been relinquished; because of his having abandoned construing through craving and having relinquished construing through view, he does not construe, does not generate, does not engender, does not produce, does not bring forth either construing through craving or construing through view — thus, "not subject to construing, he does not go to construing." Therefore the Blessed One said:
Rid of greed, not stingy, the sage (muni) does not speak of himself among the superior, nor among the equal, nor among the inferior; not subject to construing, he does not go to construing.
