[455] **Which are for a person's future** (*ye samparāyāya narassa hontī ti*): those which are for a person a final resort (parāyana), which are an island, a protection, a shelter, a refuge — a person has fulfillment as his final resort. Hence, "which are for a person's future." Therefore that created image (nimmita) said:
"From what source do the things held dear in the world arise,
and the greeds (lobha), whatever they be, that range about in the world?
From what source do hope and fulfillment arise,
which are for a person's future?"
