[460] **"Which are for a person's hereafter"** (ye samparāyāya narassa honti): those which are a person's final resort (parāyana), which are islands, which are shelters, which are hiding-places, which are refuges — a person has fulfillment (niṭṭhā) as his final resort; thus, "which are for a person's hereafter." Therefore the Blessed One said:
Things dear in the world have desire (chanda) as their source,
as too whatever greeds roam about in the world;
hope and fulfillment have their source in this,
which are for a person's hereafter.
