[469] **Having seen non-existence and existence in forms** (rūpesu disvā vibhavaṃ bhavañca): "in forms" means the four primary elements (mahābhūta) and the form (rūpa) derived from the four primary elements.
What is the existence (bhava) of forms? That which is the existence of forms — birth, coming-into-being, production, full arising, manifestation — this is the existence of forms.
What is the non-existence (vibhava) of forms? That which is the exhaustion, decay, breaking-up, complete dissolution, impermanence (aniccatā), and disappearance of forms — this is the non-existence of forms.
**Having seen non-existence and existence in forms**: having seen, having beheld, having weighed, having judged, having elucidated, and having made evident the existence and the non-existence in forms — therefore it is said, "having seen non-existence and existence in forms."
