[488] **And from what have possessions arisen?** — "From what have possessions (pariggaha) arisen? From what are they born, from what have they come to be, from what are they produced, from what are they generated, from what have they become manifest? What is their source (nidāna), what is their origin, what is their birth, what is their provenance?" — thus he asks about the root of possessions … he asks about their origin; he asks, questions closely, requests, invites, and begs that it be graciously expounded. Hence, "and from what have possessions arisen?"
