[512] "To this extent, indeed, some who are wise here speak of the purity of the yakkha as the highest" — there are some ascetics and brahmins, proponents of eternalism (sassatavāda), who declare, state, speak, explain, and express [that purity] to be the highest, the best, the most distinguished, the foremost, the utmost, the supreme, by this much — by the formless attainment (arūpasamāpatti).
"Of the yakkha (yakkhassa)": of a being, a human, a young man, a person, an individual, a living being, one who is born, a creature, one who fares by kamma (indagu), a human being.
"Purity (suddhiṃ)": purity, distinct purity, complete purity; release, distinct release, complete release.
"Wise here (idha paṇḍitāse)": here, according to their own doctrine, they are proclaimers of themselves as wise, proclaimers of themselves as sagacious, proclaimers of knowledge (ñāṇa), speakers by way of reason, speakers by way of characteristic, speakers by way of cause, speakers by way of grounds. Hence, "To this extent, indeed, some who are wise here speak of the purity of the yakkha as the highest."
