[583] **"Those who proclaim a dhamma other than this have failed of purity; they are incomplete"** — those who proclaim a dhamma other than this — a view (diṭṭhi), a mode of practice (paṭipadā), a path (magga) — have missed, failed, stumbled, and slipped from the path of purity (suddhi), the path of higher purity, the path of complete purity, the path of whiteness, the path of thorough whiteness; they have failed of final knowledge (aññā). **"They are incomplete"**: they are unaccomplished, unfulfilled; they are inferior, low, deficient, vile, mean, petty. Therefore it is said: "Those who proclaim a dhamma other than this have failed of purity; they are incomplete."
