[587] **"They proclaim, 'Purity is only here'"** means: they say, tell, speak, explain, and express purity (suddhi), higher purity (visuddhi), complete purity (parisuddhi), release (mutti), liberation (vimutti), and complete release (parimutti) [as being] here, thus: "The world is eternal; this alone is true, anything else is vain" — [thus] they say, tell, speak, explain, and express purity, higher purity, complete purity, release, liberation, and complete release [as being] here. "The world is not eternal" … "The Tathāgata after death neither exists nor does not exist; this alone is true, anything else is vain" — [thus] they say, tell, speak, explain, and express purity, higher purity, complete purity, release, liberation, and complete release [as being] here. Therefore [it is said], "They proclaim, 'Purity is only here.'"
