[588] **"They do not declare purification in other teachings" (nāññesu dhammesu visuddhimāhu):** Setting aside their own teacher, exposition of the teaching, community, view, practice, and path, they reject, dismiss, and repudiate all the doctrines of others, saying thus: "That teacher is not all-knowing; that teaching is not well proclaimed; that community is not practicing well; that view is not auspicious; that practice is not well laid down; that path is not emancipating; there is therein no purity (suddhi), no purification (visuddhi), no complete purification (parisuddhi), no release (mutti), no liberation (vimutti), no complete liberation (parimutti); therein [beings] are not purified, not fully purified, not completely purified; they are not released, not liberated, not completely liberated; they are inferior, base, low, vile, mean, and trifling" — thus they speak, thus they talk, thus they utter, thus they explain, thus they declare. Therefore, "they do not declare purification in other teachings."
