[594] **"He would himself bring quarrel (medhaga), speaking of another as a fool, of impure nature"** — speaking, telling, saying, declaring, and expressing thus: "The other is a fool, inferior, low, deficient, vile, wretched, petty, of impure nature, of unpurified nature, of not wholly purified nature, of unclean nature" — he would himself bring on, bring on fully, produce, produce fully, drag in, drag in fully, grasp, cling to, and insist upon quarrel, strife, contention, dispute, and discord. Hence: "He would himself bring quarrel, speaking of another as a fool, of impure nature." Therefore the Blessed One said:
Or else, firmly asserting his own way,
whom else here could he regard as a fool?
He would himself bring quarrel,
speaking of another as a fool, of impure nature.
