[596] **Standing upon determination, having measured for oneself:** the sixty-two speculative views (diṭṭhigata) are called "determinations" (vinicchaya). Having stood, become established, grasped, misapprehended, and adhered to a determined view — thus, "standing upon determination." **Having measured for oneself:** having measured, having gauged for oneself, "This teacher is omniscient"; having measured, having gauged for oneself, "This Dhamma is well proclaimed (svākkhāta), this group is of good conduct (suppaṭipanna), this view (diṭṭhi) is excellent, this mode of practice (paṭipadā) is well laid down, this path is emancipating" — thus, "having measured for oneself." Hence, "standing upon determination, having measured for oneself."
