[606] **For that is little, not enough for peace** — **For that is little**: that is small, that is inferior, that is slight, that is vile, that is paltry, that is trifling; therefore, "for that is little." **Not enough for peace**: it is not enough for the calming of lust (rāga), for the calming of hatred (dosa), for the calming of delusion (moha); for the calming, the quieting, the subsiding, the Nibbāna, the relinquishment, the pacification of anger, grudging, denigration, domineering, envy, avarice, deceit, hypocrisy, obstinacy, contentiousness, conceit, arrogance, vanity, heedlessness, of all defilements (kilesa), all misconduct, all distress, all fevers, all torments, all unwholesome volitional formations (akusalābhisaṅkhāra); therefore, "for that is little, not enough for peace."
