[607] **"I say that dispute has two fruits"** means: quarreling over views (diṭṭhi), wrangling over views, contention over views, disputing over views, and strife over views have two fruits: there is victory and defeat; there is gain and loss; there is fame and disrepute; there is blame and praise; there is pleasure and pain; there is joy and grief; there is the desirable and the undesirable; there is attraction and repulsion; there is elation and dejection; there is favoring and opposing. Or else, I say, declare, teach, make known, establish, disclose, analyze, elucidate, and proclaim: "That action (kamma) leads to hell (niraya), leads to the animal realm (tiracchānayoni), leads to the realm of hungry ghosts (pittivisaya)." Therefore, "I say that dispute has two fruits."
