[61] **Having removed desire for both ends** (ubhosu antesu vineyya chandaṃ): as to **ends** — contact (phassa) is one end, the origin of contact is the second end. The past is one end, the future is the second end. Pleasant feeling (vedanā) is one end, painful feeling is the second end. Name (nāma) is one end, form (rūpa) is the second end. The six internal sense bases (āyatana) are one end, the six external sense bases are the second end. Identity (sakkāya) is one end, the origin of identity is the second end.
**Desire** (chanda): that which, regarding sensual pleasures, is sensual desire (kāmacchanda), sensual lust, sensual delight, craving for sensual pleasures (kāmataṇhā), sensual affection, sensual fever, sensual infatuation, sensual cleaving, the flood of sensuality, the yoke of sensuality, clinging to sensuality, the hindrance (nīvaraṇa) of sensual desire.
**Having removed desire for both ends**: one should remove, dispel, abandon, drive out, eliminate, and bring to non-existence desire for both ends — thus, "having removed desire for both ends."
