Mahāviyūhasuttaniddesa

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 644

[644] **For all of these speak claiming to be skilled** means: for all these ascetics and brahmins claim to be skilled, claim to be wise, claim to be sagacious, claim to possess knowledge (ñāṇa), claim to speak by reason, claim to speak by characteristics, claim to speak by causes, claim to speak by grounds, each according to his own doctrine (laddhi) — thus, "for all of these speak claiming to be skilled." Therefore the Blessed One said: That dhamma which some declare to be supreme, that very same others declare to be inferior. Which assertion among these, now, is true? For all of these speak claiming to be skilled.
