[669] **"Having overstepped, they speak of purity by another"** (atisitvā aññena vadanti suddhiṃ): they, by a view, having passed over, passed beyond, transgressed the path of purity, the path of purification, the path of complete purity, the bright path, the perfectly bright path — apart from the establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), apart from the right exertions (sammappadhāna), apart from the bases of success (iddhipāda), apart from the faculties (indriya), apart from the powers (bala), apart from the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), apart from the noble eightfold path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga) — speak of, tell, say, explain, and express purity, purification, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete release. Thus too, "having overstepped, they speak of purity by another."
Or else: the Buddhas, the disciples of the Buddhas, and the Paccekabuddhas, having passed over, passed beyond, gone beyond the path of non-purity, the path of non-purification, the path of non-complete-purity, the non-bright path, the not perfectly bright path — [which accords with] the view of those [others] — speak of, tell, say, explain, and express purity, purification, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete release by means of the four establishments of mindfulness, the four right exertions, the four bases of success, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven factors of awakening, and the noble eightfold path. Thus too, "having overstepped, they speak of purity by another." Therefore the Blessed One said:
"'I know, I see, it is just so':
some believe in purity by means of a view.
Even if one has seen, what is that to him?
Having overstepped, they speak of purity by another."
