[668] **He saw** — in the phrase "If he saw, then what good is that to him?": he saw with the knowledge (ñāṇa) of others' minds (paracittañāṇa), or he saw with the knowledge of the recollection of past abodes (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), or he saw with the fleshly eye (maṃsacakkhu), or he saw with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) — thus, "if he saw."
**Then what good is that to him?** — What good is that seeing to him? How could there be full understanding (pariññā) of suffering (dukkha)? There is no abandoning of the origin (samudaya), no development of the path (magga), no realization of the fruit (phala); there is no abandonment by eradication (samucchedappahāna) of lust (rāga), no abandonment by eradication of hatred (dosa), no abandonment by eradication of delusion (moha), no abandonment by eradication of the defilements (kilesa), no cutting off of the round of saṃsāra (saṃsāravaṭṭa) — thus, "if he saw, then what good is that to him?"
