Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 667

[667] **Some believe in purity through view (diṭṭhi):** some ascetics and brahmins believe in purity (suddhi), purification (visuddhi), complete purity (parisuddhi), release (mutti), deliverance (vimutti), and complete release (parimutti) through view. Through the view "The world is eternal: this alone is true, anything else is vain," some ascetics and brahmins believe in purity, purification, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete release. "The world is not eternal …" … "The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death: this alone is true, anything else is vain"—through such view some ascetics and brahmins believe in purity, purification, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete release. Hence, "some believe in purity through view."
