[703] **Not clinging to anything in the world:** not clinging (upādāna) by way of the four kinds of clinging, not grasping, not adhering.¹ [²] **In the world:** in the world of the states of loss (apāya), the world of humans, the world of devas, the world of the aggregates, the world of the elements (dhātu), the world of the sense bases (āyatana). **Anything:** anything comprised in form, comprised in feeling (vedanā), comprised in perception, comprised in volitional formations, comprised in consciousness — thus, "not clinging to anything in the world." Therefore that mind-created one said:
I ask you, Kinsman of the Sun, the great seer,
about seclusion and the state of peace:
having seen in what way is a bhikkhu quenched,
not clinging to anything in the world?
