Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 710

[710] **"One should not create stubbornness thereby" (na tena thāmaṃ kubbetha):** one should not create stubbornness (thāma) by one's own good qualities or by the good qualities of others; one should not create obstinacy (thambha), should not create conceit (māna), should not create haughtiness, should not create arrogance; one should not thereby give rise to conceit; one should not thereby be stiff, rigid, carrying one's head held high. Therefore it is said, "one should not create stubbornness thereby."
