[713] **"He should not conceive himself better because of that" (seyyo na tena maññeyya):** he should not give rise to the conceit (māna) "I am better" — whether on account of birth, or clan, or standing as a son of a good family, or beauty of complexion, or wealth, or scriptural study (ajjhena), or a sphere of work, or a sphere of craft, or a branch of knowledge (vijjāṭṭhāna), or learning, or ready wit, or on account of any other ground whatsoever. Hence, "he should not conceive himself better because of that."
