[729] **"Speak of the practice (paṭipadā), venerable sir (bhaddante)"** means: speak of the practice — the right practice, the practice in conformity, the practice that is not contrary, the practice that accords with the goal, the practice of dhamma in accordance with dhamma; the fulfilling of virtues, guarding the doors of the sense faculties (indriya), moderation in eating, devotion to wakefulness (jāgariyānuyoga), mindfulness and clear comprehension, the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), the four right strivings (sammappadhāna), the four bases of success (iddhipāda), the five faculties, the five powers, the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), the noble eightfold path, Nibbāna, and the practice leading to Nibbāna — speak of it, point it out, teach it, declare it, establish it, disclose it, analyze it, make it plain, proclaim it. Thus: "speak of the practice."
**"Venerable sir":** that created one (nimmita) addresses the Buddha, the Blessed One. Or else: whatever Dhamma you have pointed out, taught, declared, established, disclosed, analyzed, made plain, and proclaimed — all of that is fine, excellent, good, blameless, fit to be resorted to. Thus: "speak of the practice, venerable sir."
