[737] **"When touched by contact (phassena yadā phuṭṭhassa)"**¹: one would be touched, afflicted, overcome, and beset by the contact (phassa) of disease — that is, one would be touched, afflicted, overcome, and beset by disease of the eye, disease of the ear (sota), disease of the nose, disease of the tongue, disease of the body, disease of the head, disease of the ear (kaṇṇa), disease of the mouth, disease of the teeth, cough, asthma, catarrh, burning fever, fever, disease of the belly, fainting, dysentery, colic, cholera, leprosy, boils, eczema, consumption, epilepsy, ringworm, itch, scabs, pox, scabies, disorder of the blood, disorder of the bile, diabetes, haemorrhoids, pustules, fistula; by ailments originating from bile, ailments originating from phlegm, ailments originating from wind, ailments arising from a combination of the humors, ailments born of the change of seasons, ailments born of improper care, ailments born of exertion, ailments born of the ripening of kamma; by cold, by heat, by hunger, by thirst, by defecation, by urination, and by the touch of gadflies, mosquitoes, wind, sun, and creeping creatures — hence, "when touched by contact."
