[738] *A bhikkhu should not make lamentation anywhere*: he should not make, should not generate, should not produce, should not bring forth, should not bring into being wailing (ādeva), lamentation, the act of wailing, the act of lamenting, the state of having wailed, the state of having lamented, verbal prattle, babbling, muttering, the act of muttering again and again, the state of having muttered again and again. *Anywhere*: anywhere, in anything, in any place — internally, or externally, or both internally and externally. Hence: "A bhikkhu should not make lamentation anywhere."
