[775] **Reviled, having heard the much speech of ascetics or of common people of many words** — *Reviled (rusito)*: maligned, scolded, assailed, disparaged, censured, reproached. *Of ascetics (samaṇānaṃ)*: whosoever, outside of this [Dispensation], have gone over to the wanderer's life, have undertaken the wanderer's state. *Of common people of many words (puthuvacanānaṃ)*: khattiyas, brāhmaṇas, vessas, suddas, householders, those gone forth, devas, and humans. They might abuse, revile, provoke, exasperate, [1] harass, molest, injure, hurt, and inflict injury with many words that are unwished for, undesirable, and disagreeable. Having heard, having listened to, having learned, having borne in mind, and having noted the much speech of those [people]—unwished for, undesirable, and disagreeable—therefore: **reviled, having heard the much speech of ascetics or of common people of many words.**
