[779] **And having understood that Dhamma** (etañca dhammamaññāya): "That" (etaṃ) means that which has been told, taught, made known, established, disclosed, analyzed, made plain, and proclaimed. **Having understood the Dhamma** (dhammamaññāya): having known it, weighed it, judged it, clarified it, and made it evident — thus too, "and having understood that Dhamma."
Or else: having understood — having known, weighed, judged, clarified, and made evident — the dhamma that is even and the uneven, the right path and the wrong path, the blameworthy and the blameless, the inferior and the superior, the dark and the bright, that which is censured by the wise and that which is praised by the wise — thus too, "and having understood that Dhamma."
Or else: having understood — having known, weighed, judged, clarified, and made evident — right practice, conforming practice, unopposing practice, practice in accordance with the goal, practice of dhamma in accordance with dhamma; the fulfilling of the virtues (sīla); the guarding of the doors of the sense faculties (indriya); moderation in eating; devotion to wakefulness; mindfulness and clear comprehension; the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna); the four right strivings (sammappadhāna); the four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda); the five faculties; the five powers; the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga); the noble eightfold path; and Nibbāna and the practice leading to Nibbāna — thus too, "and having understood that Dhamma."
