[784] **"For he is a conqueror, unconquered"** means: he has conquered forms, conquered sounds, conquered odours, conquered tastes, conquered tangibles, conquered mental phenomena (dhammā) — a conqueror, not conquered by any defilements (kilesa); for he is a conqueror of evil, unwholesome dhammas, which are defiling, which lead to renewed existence, which are fraught with anguish, which ripen in suffering (dukkha), and which conduce to future birth, aging, and death. Hence: "For he is a conqueror, unconquered."
