[795] **Like fish in little water** (macche appodake yathā): just as fish in little water — in scanty water, when the water is being used up — being harried, snatched up, and devoured by crows, hawks, or herons, writhe, writhe about, and writhe to and fro, tremble, quake, and shake; even so, people writhe with the trembling of craving (taṇhā) … they writhe, writhe about, and writhe to and fro, tremble, quake, and shake with the suffering (dukkha) that is the disaster of views. Therefore it is said: **like fish in little water**.
