[800] **"All the directions are shaken"** (disā sabbā sameritā): Those conditioned things (saṅkhārā) in the eastern direction — they too are stirred, shaken, moved, and jolted; being impermanent, they are followed by birth, pursued by aging, overcome by sickness, stricken by death, established in suffering (dukkha), without protection, without shelter, without refuge, having become no refuge. Those conditioned things in the western direction, those conditioned things in the northern direction, those conditioned things in the southern direction, those conditioned things in the intermediate direction of the east [the southeast], those conditioned things in the intermediate direction of the west [the northwest], those conditioned things in the intermediate direction of the north [the northeast], those conditioned things in the intermediate direction of the south [the southwest], those conditioned things in the direction below, those conditioned things in the direction above, those conditioned things in the ten directions — they too are stirred, shaken, moved, and jolted; being impermanent, they are followed by birth, pursued by aging, overcome by sickness, stricken by death, established in suffering, without protection, without shelter, without refuge, having become no refuge. And this too has been said:
Though this mansion blazes,
illuminating the northern quarter,
having seen the flaw in form, its constant trembling —
therefore the wise one does not delight in form.
The world is stricken by death, hemmed in by aging,
pierced by the dart of craving (taṇhā), ever smoldering with desire.
All the world is ablaze, all the world is lit up,
all the world is blazing, all the world is shaken.
Hence: "All the directions are shaken."
