[833] **"One should not create liking for the new" (nave khantimakubbaye):** present form, feeling (vedanā), perception, volitional formations, and consciousness are called "the new." One should not create liking (khanti) for present formations by way of craving (taṇhā), by way of view (diṭṭhi); one should not create desire (chanda), should not create affection (pema), should not create lust (rāga); one should not generate it, should not engender it, should not produce it, should not bring it into being. Hence, "one should not create liking for the new."
