Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 840

[840] **The mire of sensuality is hard to get beyond (kāmapaṅko duraccayo):** the mire of sensuality (kāmapaṅka), the bog of sensuality (kāmakaddama), the defilement of sensuality (kāmakilesa), the slough of sensuality (kāmapalipa), the entanglement of sensuality (kāmapalibodha), is hard to get beyond (duraccaya), hard to pass over (durativatta), hard to cross (duttara), hard to cross over (duppatara), hard to fully transcend (dussamatikkama), hard to get past (dubbītivatta) — thus, "the mire of sensuality is hard to get beyond." Therefore the Blessed One said: Greed (gedha), I say, is "the great flood"; the sucking tide (ācama), I say, is hankering (jappanā); the object is the construing (pakappana); the mire of sensuality is hard to get beyond.
