[842] **A sage (muni), not deviating from truth**: not deviating from truthful speech, not deviating from right view (sammādiṭṭhi), not deviating from the noble eightfold path. **Sage (muni)**: knowledge (ñāṇa) is called sagacity (mona); that is, the wisdom, the understanding … having passed beyond the net of ties, he is a sage — hence, "a sage, not deviating from truth."
