[848] **Having known the Dhamma, one is not dependent (ñatvā dhammaṃ anissito):** having known, having understood, having weighed, having judged, having made clear, having made evident that "all conditioned things (saṅkhārā) are impermanent"; having known, having understood, having weighed, having judged, having made clear, having made evident that "all conditioned things are suffering (dukkha)" … "whatever is subject to origination, all that is subject to cessation." **Not dependent:** there are two dependencies: dependence through craving (taṇhā) and dependence through view … this is dependence through craving … this is dependence through view. Having abandoned dependence through craving, having relinquished dependence through view, one is not dependent on the eye, not dependent on the ear, not dependent on the nose …; not dependent on things seen, heard, sensed, and to be cognized — not attached to them, not drawing near to them, not clinging to them, not resolved upon them; gone forth from them, disengaged, released, detached from them, one dwells with a mind rid of boundaries. Hence, "having known the Dhamma, one is not dependent."
