[849] **"He, moving rightly in the world" (sammā so loke iriyāno):** insofar as desire and lust (chandarāga) for the internal and external sense bases (āyatana) is abandoned, cut off at the root, made like a palm stump, done away with, no longer subject to arising in the future — to that extent he moves about, dwells, behaves, conducts himself, maintains himself, sustains himself, and keeps himself going rightly in the world.
Insofar as the meritorious formation (puññābhisaṅkhāra), the demeritorious formation (apuññābhisaṅkhāra), and the formation of the imperturbable (āneñjābhisaṅkhāra) are abandoned, cut off at the root, made like a palm stump, done away with, no longer subject to arising in the future — to that extent he moves about, dwells, behaves, conducts himself, maintains himself, sustains himself, and keeps himself going rightly in the world. Therefore it is said: "He, moving rightly in the world."
