[884] **"Nor heard from anyone" (na suto uda kassaci):** the word "na" (not) is a negation. **"Uda":** this is a word-liaison (padasandhi), a word-connection (padasaṃsagga), a word-completion (padapāripūri), a combination of syllables (akkharasamavāya), a smoothness of consonants (byañjanasiliṭṭhatā), a sequential ordering of words (padānupubbatā) — such is "uda." **"From anyone" (kassaci):** from anyone whomsoever — whether a khattiya (noble warrior), a brāhmaṇa (brahmin), a vessa (merchant-farmer), a sudda (labourer), a householder (gahaṭṭha) or one gone forth (pabbajita), a deva or a human being — hence, "nor heard from anyone."
